Heavy-Duty Polyester Reinforced Granular Rubberized Asphalt Sheet with Root Protection

Terra-BARRIER™ RB Sheet is a heavy-duty, rubberized asphalt sheet that is specially formulated with a factory-applied root growth regulator.

Description

Terra-BARRIER™ RB Cap Sheet is a heavy-duty, rubberized asphalt sheet that is specially formulated with a factory-applied root growth regulator. The polyester-reinforced, granular sheet is specifically designed to be embedded into Barrett’s RamTough 250 hot rubberized asphalt roofing membranes when installed in a Roofscapes® green roof assembly. Terra-BARRIER™ RB Cap Sheet provides protection to the membrane from mechanical damage as well as damage from root penetration.

USES:

Roofscapes® green roof assemblies using RamTough 250

INSTALLATION:

HORIZONTAL APPLICATIONS

Terra-BARRIER™ RB Cap Sheet is to be rolled out and embedded into the RamTough 250 membrane while still warm and aggressively tacky to ensure proper adhesion.

Adjacent sheets must be lapped a minimum of 2 inches. All laps should be “wet lapped” with RamTough 250 or may be torch welded per standard APP modified bitumen torching techniques.

Terra-BARRIER™ RB Cap Sheet should be dressed up all roofing termination points and flashings to provide total root barrier protection to all roofed/flashed surfaces that will be subsequently covered with growing media. Flashing heights > 12 inches may require alternate securement.

VERTICAL APPLICATIONS

Terra-BARRIER™ RB Cap Sheet is to be rolled out and embedded into the RamTough 250 membrane while still warm and aggressively tacky to ensure proper adhesion. If the membrane cools to ambient temperature and loses its tack, install a thin layer of RamTough 250 to create additional tack.

Alternatively, the root block can also be lightly torched to create additional adhesion on the backside of the granulated cap sheet, as well as on any existing membrane and/or new membrane. Terra-BARRIER™ RB Cap Sheet is then rolled into the newly-created tacky surface to create a uniform root protection barrier.

Adjacent sheets must be lapped a minimum of 1.5 to 3 inches. All laps should be “wet lapped” with RamTough 250 or may be torch welded per standard APP modified bitumen torching techniques. This process pertains to all vertical wall and footer applications.
