RamShield 60 | Self-Adhering Waterproof Membrane
RamShield AdhesiveRamShield Adhesive | Solvent-Based Adhesive
DESCRIPTION
RamShield® 60 is a 60 mil. thick (1.5 mm) self-adhering membrane for above and below-grade waterproofing. It features a woven polyethylene membrane coated on both sides with a uniquely engineered waterproofing blend. It provides a self-adhered waterproofing membrane for a variety of above and below-grade waterproofing applications, including concrete foundation walls, foundation waterproofing, plaza decks, balconies, tunnels, parking decks, breezeways, and more.
Barrett's RamShield 60 (60 mil) should only be applied to structurally sound surfaces, which incorporate good building practices, and meet all local code requirements. Follow installation instructions set forth in the details and drawings provided in the project specifications.
Acceptable substrates for RamShield 60 are:
- Plywood
- Oriented Strand Board (OSB)
- Concrete
- Metal
- Other like materials
In all cases, the area to be covered must be free from rust, grease and oil. Additionally, the area must also be dry as residual moisture will interfere with proper adhesion. Thoroughly clean the area removing all dust, dirt and debris.
*When applying over concrete:
- Ensure that the concrete has had adequate time to cure, typical seven days depending on ambient conditions.
- Area must be smooth and free of all surface imperfections. Fill any cracks greater that 1/16.”
To ensure maximum adhesion, it is highly recommended that all substrates be primed with a primer, preferably solvent-based. Follow application instructions for primer to ensure proper adhesion will be achieved.
All penetrations and drains must be flashed. Flashing should extend a minimum of 6 inches from penetration.
Follow all applicable construction drawing for transitions from horizontal to vertical surfaces.
Once installation is complete, use a suitable hand roller to firmly press the RamShield 60 to the substrate. Alternately, heavy hand pressure may be used.
All terminations must be sealed with a mastic or a sealant.
Start with the lowest point and work towards highest point. Unroll RamShield 60 against the surface to be covered while simultaneously removing the release film.
Once installation is complete, roll RamShield 60 with a 75 lb rubber-faced roller.
Overlaps:
- All side laps must be a minimum of 2 1/2 inches.
- All end laps must be a minimum of 5 inches.
- Ensure all end laps are staggered.
- All ends that do not terminate at a RamShield 60 interface must be finished with either a mastic or a sealant.
Ensure proper drainage/slope is incorporated to prevent standing water.

- All ends that do not terminate at a RamShield 60 interface must be finished with either a mastic or a sealant.
It is recommended that RamShield 60 not be installed in lengths greater than 8 ft.
In installations greater than 8 ft, it is recommended that an 8 ft section is installed on the lowest point of the surface with a second piece installed to the highest point.
Overlaps:

Once installation is complete, use a suitable hand roller to firmly press the membrane to the substrate. Alternately, heavy hand pressure may be used.
NOTE: Failure to use adequate pressure my cause loss of adhesion.
All ends that do not terminate at a RamShield 60 interface must be finished with either a mastic or a sealant.
- Do not store in conditions above 120°F.
- Do not install if ambient temperature is below 50°F.
- Not intended for long-term exposure to UV radiation or weather. Cover within 30 days.
- Not to be used in contact with PVC or other vinyl products.
This document is provided for guidance only, it is not intended to cover all local code variations. Always follow industry “best practices” when installing this product. Always adhere to local building code.
